Kunst creëren met naald en draad.
Borduren houdt mij al jaren bezig. Ik begon te borduren na een vervelend skiongeluk, waarbij ik op 9 jarige leeftijd mijn been brak. Sindsdien heb ik vele projecten gemaakt. Het werd steeds meer een uitdaging om de achterkant net zo mooi te krijgen als de voorkant. Ik heb daar hard aan gewerkt en het resultaat werd steeds beter.
Ik dacht dat anderen net zo borduurden als ik, totdat ik in contact kwam met iemand die mij verzekerde dat het beslist niet zo was. In 1996 ben ik in de Quiltnaald in Brielle, op de borduurafdeling gaan werken. Kort daarna werd ik gevraagd om in de winkel borduurdemonstraties te geven. Daar werd zo enthousiast op gereageerd dat er besloten werd om "borduurles" te geven. Dat was een geweldig succes!
Creating art using needle and thread
Cross Stitch is my life since childhood. I started to learn cross stitch after a nasty ski accident; I was 9 years old, broke my leg and had to stay in bed.
Since then I finished a lot of projects. I became obsessed in making the back of my stitch project just as nice as the front! I worked hard on that skill and became better and better at it.
I always thought that other people cross stitched like me, until I came in contact with someone that assured me that this is not at all the case!
In 1996 I started working in the cross stitch department of The Quiltnaald in Brielle. Shortly after I was asked to give demonstrations in cross stitch in the shop. Everyone was so enthusiastic that it evolved in lessons and teaching cross stitch “the better way”. That became a great succes!
In de tussentijd was ik in contact gekomen met de Noorse borduur techniek Hardanger. Die borduurkunst heeft mij gepakt en mij volledig in haar greep genomen. Ik heb ook het voorrecht gehad om de streek Hardanger in Noorwegen te bezoeken. De Hardanger koorts is daardoor alleen maar toegenomen. Hopelijk kan ik u laten genieten van mijn liefde voor de borduurkunst op zich.
Inmiddels geef ik zelf in Noorwegen les in de Hardangertechniek. Wat een voorrecht!

In the mean time I came in contact with the Norwegian cross stitch technique “Hardanger”.
That art of cross stitch caught me completely.
I had the privilege to visit the Hardanger region in Norway, visit the museum in Utne and meet mrs. Hildegun Aga Blokhus, the curator who know everything about the Hardanger technique.
The Hardanger fever just got higher! I hope I can get you hooked as well.
I now teach the Hardanger technique myself which is a great privilege.
